(5 ¼) / (7/2) = (21 / 4) x (2 / 7) = 3 / 2 = 1 ½

First convert 5 1/4 to an improper fraction
(5*4 + 1) / 4 = 21 / 4

Multiply the improper fraction by the reciprocal of 7/2
(21/4)*(2/7) = 42 / 28

Simplify
(42/14)/(28/14) = 3/2 OR 1 1/2

first convert 5 1/4 to a single improper fraction:

5 1/4 is the same as 5+1/4, and five is basically just 5/1, so it equals (5/1)+(1/4). Then we find a common denominator, which is 4, and find the sum:

(5/1)=(20/4)
(20/4)+(1/4)=(21/4)

So now you have (21/4)/(7/2).
This is the same as (21/4)divided by(7/2), because a fraction is essentially just a division problem. When you divide fractions, you flip the second fraction and multiply, so:

(21/4)/(7/2)=(21/4)x(2/7)

Then you just multiply the top and bottom, and finally reduce:

(21/4)x(2/7)=42/28...which reduces to 3/2...and there's your answer.

change 5 1/4 to an improper fraction
it would be 21/4

so
21/4 divided by 7/2, now do keep change flip
keep 21/4, change to multiplying and get the reciprocal of 7/2 which is 2/7

now we have
21/4 x 2/7 now multiply across and simplify
(21 x 2) over (4 x 7) = 42/28 = 1 1/2

you could also simplify before you multiply
you would get 3/2 x 1/1 = 1 1/2

change 5 1/4 to an improper fraction and it should be 21/4, flip 7/2 and u'll have 2/7 and multiply so it should be 21/4 times 2/7 , the answer should be 3/2.

make 5 1/4 a fraction first.
5 1/4 = 21/4.

now we have
21/4 / 7/2.

now flip one of the fractions around, lets flip 7/2.
since you flipped it, it now becomes a multipication problem.

now we have 21/4 x 2/7
mutiply the numerators together, then the denominators together.

21 x 2= 42
7 x 4= 28

now its 42/28
simplify= 3/2

mmmk.... to change 5&1/4 into an improper fraction you have to take these steps...
1. multiply the large # (5) and the # at the bottom of the fraction(4) which equals 20.
2. add the # on top of the fraction.... (1) now you have 20+1=21
3. now just slip the # on the bottom of the original fraction on the bottom of the 21....
sooo....
the answer is 21/4

noowww... you do this
(21/4) / (7/2)

....then you flip the 2nd fraction to make it a multiplication problem.... DO IT!!... IT'S WAYY EASIER!!!

mmm....soo...
(21/4)x (2/7)
then... just multiply acrosss....(multiply the two top #'s, and then multiply the two bottom numbers)

sooo.... 21x 2=42 (top #'s)

and... 4x7=28 (bottom #s)

so now you have this fraction...
42/28.... reduce by dividing by 2... then you have 21/14....aka 1.5

HOOORAY!

Change 5 1/4 to 21/4 (4 times 5 plus 1) and change 7/2 to 2/7 (save it(first fraction), change it (mult. to division) flip it(last fraction)). so you have 21/4 x 2/7 which is 42/28 simplified is 3/2.
Your fonal answer is: 3/2 or 1.5 or 1 1/2
