I broke the talegate handle off of my friends car, and i was wondering if anyone knew how to go about fixingit

Buy a new handle and replace it---have to remove the inner tailgate trim panel to get access to it---usually a couple bolts or screws hold them on.

you gotta say the make and model or we cant help you. most likely though you gotta go trough the dealer to get the handle
