The only time they are required to wash their hands is after using the bathroom, and they don't make sure of that either. At McDonalds where I live in Iowa, they put you to work as soon as you walk out of the break room. Everything you eat there has been touched by more than one persons hands. Yes, including the meat.

I work at Mc Donald's and during orientation it was brought up that some customers complain if employees don't wash their hands in the bathrooms. They don't see that when they return behind the counter that we wash our hands, so to end this it was said to wash our hands in the bathroom and re-wash them after returning. Some people are extra picky too. I had a woman complain to my supervisor because I pushed the button on the headset to take someones order and didn't wash my hands before handing out her bag of food. Come on. The food was bagged up. We don't have time to wash our hands between taking an order and handing out someone Else's food.

Yes, they do. After the "Jack-In-The-Box" epidemic, the government watches them like hawks. You are more likely to get sick from food you cook at home that McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, or a similar restaurant. My husband is in and out of that type of establishment all the time in his line of work (computers) and they don't know that he is watching. But they do wash their hands. If they didn't, he WOULD say something. He went to school for it. They are the strictest on their sanitation.

Yes. It's a gross thought especially when you wonder if they obey the "Employees Must Wash Hands" sign in the restroom.

Yep, actually happened to me yesterday. Went to a chinese food restaurant and the server sneezed and didn't go to wash her hands. Me and my friend left.

And if they DO wash their hands, are they just running their hands under water really quick just so it LOOKS like they're washing their hands?

Thoughts like that run through my head.
But there are just things you can't avoid. You want somebody to make it for you and you want it fast because of your hectic schedule but then there are all these factors you need to consider.

They are supposed to be wearing those plastic gloves when they handle the food product. If they don't report them to the health dept.
