Old Black/White film, 1930's?. a couple live in a old Mansion, They have a portrait of the Same mansion on thier living room wall...
They notice one day, a Ghostly figure in a Black Habit has appeared in the Portrait, and as the days go by, it starts moving towards the house..
At the end of the film, they look at the Portrait and see the 'figure' is on the Doorstep, then They hear Knocking at the Real Front door..........

I remember this but not the title. I'm not sure it is as old as you think though - I thin it may be the 70s but just shot in black and white and made to seem old. It's one they used to put on Christmas Eve.
