Well, lets see- hotels are where people sleep and they have to rely on hotel staff to keep them and their valuables safe? Starting to get the picture? Nearly every employee is in the position to steal from the guests. Jewelry, cash, credit card numbers, overcharging and pocketing the difference, etc. Try looking on line for horror stories about hotel stays and I'm quite certain that you'll find what you're looking for.

The hotel business is based on dealing with the public, directly or indirectly everyday. Some employees have access to guests belongings, access to personal credit card details, addresses, etc. If you are working in a restaurant in a hotel, there are issues of health and hygiene. Front desk, are you even tempered? Bellman, are you healthy enough for work? Lots of reasons to ask for so much information with so much vulnerability for the hotel.

SINCE HOTEL EMPLOYEES HAVE EASY ACCESS TO PATRONS ROOMS, THE HOTEL HAS TO DO ALL IN IT'S POWER TO KEEP THEFT AT A MINIMUM AND SOMEONE WITH A RAP SHEET FOR BURGLARY OR BREAKING AND ENTERING WOULD NOT BE A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR EMPLOYMENT.
