I would say it depends on the man and the women, but overall the same. Just that men have learned to internalize their emotions while many women have learned it is okay to show them.
But both men and women are hurt by many thngs and need others for support.

I think how much emotional support someone needs depends on the individual, not necessarily having to do anything which gender.
I do believe, however, that everyone, regardless of gender, needs some sort of emotional support. I believe our culture has conditioned men into thinking that the stoicism is how a man should act, yet any woman who has sat down and listened to a man talk from the heart knows that their emotional needs aren't much different than their own.

Why would I need a man for emotional support? If im looking in that direction, I might as well throw my cards in at the same time, because that is a big waste. A man is not the best at "emotional support" lol...Family or female friends are....

Hmmm... never thought of that. I guess it really depends on the man and woman. But I'd say that usually women won't open up to a man unless they're married or she's a complete emotional wreck. In most relationships, it seems that they each tend to have certain people they preffer to tell problems to. But anytime a man compliments his girlfriend/wife, she really feels great about it and it makes her whole day better. So, I think that the woman really doesn't DEPEND on a man for emotional support, but it's always welcome!

Of couse she does! We are the most emotional beings in the world. think about what the man puts us through. I understand women treat men bad too, but shyt, we carry your children, cook, clean, work, etc. We get emotional and stressed out. But, in the same way that we are able to express our feelings, why can't you tell us what's on your mind or what's bothering you when we ask? You walk around with this mad look on yoru face and when we ask you be like nothing but we know you're in an emotional state and we be trying to help. We got it worse though so of course we need emotional support more. W edefinitely need someone willing to LISTEN AND willing to TALK and give advice.

Lets keep this simple. Women feel the need to get their thoughts out there------Men operate differently, they tend to think in terms of straight forward urges: I'm hungry, I'm horny, I'm going to make money doing this, I'm going to fix the car, Iwant to watch sports, I want to play computer games. Their 'thoughts come from basics. Women want to play with emotions, and hypothicicals, and analize behavior. Men like dogs just do and you only hear whinning if they want you to do something to meet a basic need. Its no more than that. Do you think Bill Gates would be spending $ for charity all over the world if it weren't for Jennifer in his ear? Heck no! There a good woman behind most great men.

i dont think that either women or men 'need; emotial support all that much. Many people are independant and not co-dependant on their partners.
