would you like to be called a pianoer, or a pianoist? (sounds backwoods don't it)

So I think these rich people come up with this pianist (even though it sounds like someone who frequents the bathroom a lot) LOL

On the racist.. I think racist was a work, didn't want the degarotory remarks and called them racers....

I guess since racist was taken for being against a different race than your own(not just white people not liking black people every1!!!!). And maybe the drivers didn't want to be called a 'racist' because of that. They're called racers instead.

Becuase "ist" and "er" usually means someone who so someone who plays the piano would be a pianist and someone who drives a race car would be a racer !!

The root word of race is the common homonym between racist and racer, so two suffixes are used to differentiate between the two nouns in question when referring to two subjects who engage in each of their respective interests.

The use of the suffix '-ist' is added at the end of the word 'racist' to identify that person as 'one that adheres to or advocates a specified doctrine, system or code.'

On the other hand, the word 'pianist' uses the suffix '-ist' to mean 'one that plays a (specified) musical instrument' (i.e. guitarist, harpist, etc.)

Finally, the suffix -er in 'racer' identifies one that is occupationally connected with the noun (example: lawyer, painter, etc.)

because it is just used a different way. racist is used for someone who does not like or is prejudice of another race (black or white, etc)
