Slave and Master.

"Fifty" had a nifty answer, but it fell short of explaining what S & M really means. There is a style of eroticism often practiced wherein people are paired according to their propencities to punish or to be punished. These people often have "clubs", and lots of special equipment, where they to meet to practice their twisted notions of what human sexual behavior is about. Most times when you hear someone speaking of S & M, they are referring to the type of behavior described here.
"Artist Agent" also properly identified the words for which the letters S and M stand.

Sometimes s stands for sadism and m stands for masochism. Sadism is when someone wants to treat others badly and masochism is when someone wants to be treated badly.

If someone has a boyfriend or girlfriend that cheats on her or him and that person claims they still love the cheater, then you might think that this person is masochistic.

Sadism and Masochism.

Not slave and master.

It is the practice of dominating someone. It is sexual in nature.
