Hook positives first because you will sometimes get a spark if you connect positive last. Sparks around a battery are not good.
Another thing, DC current usually doesn't shock you but it can and it doesn't feel good when it does. Connect positive first to the post that's red, then negative last on the one that's dead.
I'm not much of a poet but that's the correct procedure.
Connect the positives together, then the negative on the boosting battery, then the negative on the dead battery or somewhere on the vehicle that will ground.

A rhyme? Hmm, This proceedure is too easy for a rhyme.

Best to go negative to negative first but hook it to a "ground" like the frame or an engine bracket or lift point.

Then go: Positive to positive. This should help you avoid a spark and having the battery blowing up in your face from hydrogen gas accumulation.

Always use a flashlight at night time to identify the potive and negative side of the battery so you don't reverse the polarity and fry the computer/brain box.

Good Luck!

I always think of BIG RED for positive side. That only leaves you with the one other side doesnt it.
Think BIG, think RED, think BIG RED. If you want to get ahead, think positive, think BIG RED
