Cover your carpets with salt. Leave for 10 minutes then vacuum up. It's a great little repellant :-)

Firstly, if you have pets, especially cats, you must get them treated by a vets otherwise there is no point treating your home. Ask your vet to treat the pets with "Frontline" (nb you can buy it yourself too but only from a vets)
The best treatment we found after much trial and error with one bad fleabag cat was the "Bob Martin" brand flea bomb. You place it in the middle of the room on a sheet of paper, push the nozzle, leave the room and come back after 3 hrs to open all the windows. We found this killed ALL the fleas and we had no repeat infestations.
Good luck

The safest and cheapest method of getting rid of fleas is to use a mixture of boric acid and salt. The powder should be sprayed on carpets, bedding and areas frequented by pets. More information on getting rid of fleas is available at http://pests.in/fleas.html

What I did was, I vacuumed everything and I used a spray that I got at Home Depot called Enforcer Flea Spay. It was very reasonable. I also used Frontline on the Feline Americans,( I used Adams fles spray on them also about 2 weeks later, probably wasn't necessary but was just not taking any chances) and washed all the bedding in the house.Be sure you vacuum all upholstered furniture and spray them. Then repeat in (I think it's three weeks, it will tell you on the spray) to catch any stray eggs that you may have missed before they hatch. Worked for me. Haven't seen one since and it's been years. God bless!!

First treat the problem. How did they get there in the first place ? (There is no point in paying somebody to clear them if your cat or dog re-infests your house) Then you have to get in a professional as you will never get rid of them without expert help. Pay a little extra for flea drops from the vet. That is the only way to get rid of them from your pet.

You can probably search on fleas and get more responses from past questions, but I buy a house gecko and let it take care of the fleas. Fly strips, dishes of liquid are other things that reduce fleas. If they are gnats from plants, don't water them as often or set them outside.

Vaccum clean the entire home thoroughly and then apply the approriate flea killer. If you have dogs or cats, make sure they get the correct treatment too.

i've heard putting Borax on your carpets for like 3-4 hours and then vacuuming it up works. I have never tried it but I always put baking soda on my floors before I vacuum and I've never had a problem with fleas at my house.

get some flea spray from the vets

They can only survive away from a host body for a short period of time so after a few days they should die
