Let's see... This sounds a lot like an assignment work. Now, if I was to reply to this, it would be MY words, and when you turn in the assignment, it would not be YOUR own words.
And your teacher would ask "when did you get so smart".
Natural selection is what happens when animals that are not as well equipped than others to survive will tend to die off at a younger age than others, better adapted ones, and will not reproduce.
Draw a parallel with this assignment: if you turn in a crappy homework, you will flunk and will not get in college. Natural selection (or in this case educational selection, to coin a phrase) will eliminate you from those getting a better education and you will not get a super good job.
So, stop putting your homework assignment on Yahoo Answer for other people to do in your place. I already was selected as good and graduated from University. Make an effort and prove yourself worthy of "educational selection".

Before anyone mentions the term "Survival of the Fittest", forget it.
Darwin's idea was that , in a population of organisms, every now and then a RANDOM mutation emerges in a newborn.
SOMETIMES, this mutation will be one that means the animal is better suited to its environment. The genes of this animal will get passed on, and the future animals with that gene will become more successful than the others.
It's important to know that the environment itself doesn't cause the change to happen. For example, on a hypothetical island with tall trees, animals don't "develop" long necks to reach the leaves. Sometime in the past, one was born with a gene for a longer neck by chance, and it got passed down to future generations. It continued to happen because they were better suited to the island's environment.
At some other time, one might have been born by chance with ears shaped for better hearing. An advantage if there were predators, but one that didn't replicate itself for long because it didn't specifically make survival easier in that particular place.
Hang on, this is astronomy . . .

In human kind, the female wants to mate with the male who is strongest specimen.
The male wants to mate with the female who is the most beautiful.
In modern times, the strongest male is seen as the one who has the most money or the one who has the ability to earn the most money.
The fact that the 'trophy wife' goes for the Donald Trump's of the world is Natural selection.
She select him.
The female chooses (selects) the richest man her beauty will buy and the male selects the most beautiful woman his wealth will buy.

I had visited the Yellowstone national park three to four years ago. A large area of forest had been burnt. It isn't destroyed forever. And the natural selection was quietly took place.

Hi. Any species will adapt to its environment by allowing better suited individuals to survive better/longer.
