I know the answers are r= 12 and d= 24
I just don't understand how to set it up to figure this out.

The formula for the circumference, C, of a circle is C = 2π r, where r is the radius.

C = 24π ft.
C = 2π r, therefore:
24π = 2π r
Solve for r:
Divide both sides by 2 π:
24π / 2π = 2π r / 2π
The π's cancel out, so
24 / 2 = r, or
r = 24 / 2
r = 12 ft.

d = 2r
d = 2 * 12
d = 24 ft.

To check, substitute 12 for r and 24π for C in the equation C = 2π r.
(I'll let you do that)

The formula is C,(circumference) = Pi * Dia.
So the Dia is given to you as 24'.
The radius is half the diameter.
The whole problem was centered on
your knowing those two simple facts.
Do your reading.

C= d * pi
so if its C=24pi ft
set 24pi equal to d*pi
24pi=d*pi
then divide pi on both sides and they cancel each other out
so 24=d
24 is the diameter. and the diameter is 2*r (r=radius)
so 24=2*r
divide and you get 12=r

C=2.pi.r
r=C/(2.pi)

C=pi. d
d=C/pi
