we have a 59" opening in our bathroom for a tub. Rather than move the wall, I was wondering if I could just cut a new whirpool tub to the correct size, providing I don't cut any of the jet lines. I am concerned with rusting, so I am not sure if it is a good idea or not

I only need to take off about one inch to make the tub fit, I believe the tub I would purchase is probably fiberglass or a plastic of some sort. I was just going to pick up a Jacuzzi tub from Lowes. I have a sawz-all, circ saw, jigsaw or basicvally any other tools available to me, I was just hoping that cutting a liilte off the tub, would save hours of moving plumbing, electrical and re-rocking the wall.

Move the wall. Cutting the tub is not a good idea and you will probably regret trying to.

Before you do anything, make sure you can get the new tub into the space. Door openings and turning circles need to be considered. If the bathroom is small, you might not be able to physically get the tub in even if you had the required 60 inch rough opening for the tub.

If you can get it in, the move the wall, anything else is just asking for grief.

Smiles... No offense but "NO"

To remove a tub; it's often suggested to CUT. To install and modify the size of a MOLDED tub is asking for years of issues.

Since you left out the detail regarding the size of the opening; you might consider it the better option, no matter.

depends on a variety of factors, how much are you cutting? what is your tub made out of?

if its steel make sure you cut it smothly and then seal it so that it doesn't rust.

Notch the studs. DO NOT cut the tub, you will ruin the edge support.
