mistakes like this are not acceptable when a human cannot come and pick the robot back up.

its a nice foundation, but needs much improvement.
wheeled vehicles are a much more safer and reliable option

humanoid looking robots only make interaction and acceptance by other humans easier, since we feel we can "relate" to it a bit more.

No. Some parft of the design could be used, but not the whole. Why? Because Honda's design mission is to interface with humans, that is why it has a humanoid shape and proportion. Space exploration robot may not need 2 arms, 2 legs and a relatively high CG, which cause imblance. Having a low CG vehicle with mutiple wheels makes more sense for a rover, and given that there are no such things as door handle, chairs, utensils, hand tools and so on on an alien planet, a grappling claw may be more approriate than a multi fingered "hand".

Robots, certainly. But Honda's bipedal robot is a great gimmick, just not very useful. Bipedal locomotion is great for people, it gave us a great view of the surroundings when we were evolving in Africa, and it is somewhat energy efficient if I remember a recent article, but its not very stable. Multi-legged robots looking like insects or spiders, or centipedes are probably a better idea.
