This Craftsman garage door opener is about 5 years old and works all the time. It just happened, when I press the wall mount unit (that opens the garage door from inside the garage), the Craftsman unit just click and hummed 1-2 sec, and garage door does not move at all. I can open the garage door via manual pull down. Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure that the safety sensors (both sides of door) are not blocked or misaligned. They will stop the motion if that happens.

Also check that there are not broken wheels or bent tracks.

If the safety sensors look OK, try pulling the disconnect lever to see if it runs without the door being attached. If so it is definitely a door problem.

first, check the safety eyes if it wont close, if it is in the up position and it sounds like the motor is running, un plug it from the ceiling and pull the cover off of it, check the gears inside there, they may be stripped out, if they are go to a garage door dealer and pick up a set of gears, they will cost more if you go to sears, you should pick a set up for $35 to $38. They arnt that hard to replace. Just make sure to replace both gears in there and use up the grease that comes with the kit. If you dont want to do it, you should get it repaired for about $90 to $100, depends on your door dealers.. and that is only if you can run the door up and down by hand.. If the door is down and wont raise up, then check for a broken spring that wont let the door come up..

That has happened with mine. I didn't find a fix for it- I just bought a new one- they stock them at Sears. It ticked me off but it was easier and cheaper than having a tech charge me for a service call and then install a new one. They are simple and straight forward to wire. The flashing light would indicate it is in "lock" mode, but if this were the case the other openers wouldn't operate it either.
