It's called High Roller and it's on the Stratosphere Building in Las Vegas, NV. To be honest with you, it's pretty lame. BUT there are three other rides up there that are all pretty awesome!

You're talking about the High Roller that was once located on the top of the Stratosphere tower in Las Vegas. They actually tore the ride down sometime within the last year or so. I never got a chance to ride it, even though it only circled the tower a few times, it still looked really cool.

"Around a tower" -- can your Uncle be more specific, like which country this coaster might be in?

Some people here have mentioned High Roller in Las Vegas, but it was removed in 2005. There is also Thunder Dolphin in Japan http://www.rcdb.com/ig1845.htm?picture=22 it wraps around and through an office building.

Other than that ... ?

I've never heard of anything like that. But there's a ride at Six Flags called the Giant Drop and to me that's like dropping from the Sears tower.
