It is a bit early, but I started mine when I was 9. I'm 42 now and have never had a problem because I started early.
You WILL get your period. Just relax. All women do and millions of girls start at 17 and 18...even 19. Stop worrying. You're fine.
Believe me, enjoy it while you can because when you do start, you will wish you hadn't. Cramps, bloating, bleeding....yuck.

Relax, she will be okay. My oldest daughter had just turned 9 when she got hers. Every girl is different, so their periods may not come early, and may come as late as 18 or 19, so you are not weird...my best friend was 17 when she got hers and she is now a mother of 6.
Your sister may or may not have regular periods for a while yet, it could be next month or even next year before she gets another one, so this is completely normal.

Hi there!
You know, each womans body is unique, her hormonal balance and make up is her 'own'.
Girls as young as 8 do start their periods, and it is considered normal, although it seems strange to some people.
The biggest worry is early sexual experamentation, because she can become pregnant now, since she has had her first period.
ALSO, as far as YOUR body. Obesity, or even being underweight can cause period delay. You could still become pregnant even without a period though, because we are fertile BEFORE we bleed, so always be careful.
If you are worried about your own body and development, you should see an obgyn to make sure that you do not have thyroid problems. (or any other underlying condition)

Like the others said: Kids are starting their periods earlier. I started mine when I was 11. My cousin started hers when she was 9. It isn't entirely abnormal. My mother did not start her period until she was 17. So don't worry about not starting yet. I'd think of it as being lucky that you dont have to deal with cramps or bleeding. But if you are that worried then ask your parents to take you to the doctor.

Oh kiddo... stuff happens.
Both of you girls need to see the doctor. An 8 year old girl starting her menstration is not as normal as some may think, and you being 17 and still nothing raises a few concerns too.
Ask one of your parents to make a doctors appointment for both you and your sister. Its very important and not something to be ignored.

Actually, girls are starting their periods as soon as 8. there is nothing odd about it. Some girls don't get their periods till their 19. Just give it time, if you still don't get your period, contact a doctor.
