A President takes his oath of office very seriously. Sometimes he has to make very unpopular decisions for the good of the country. A President knows that history will eventually judge him fairly.
If we left Iraq before their government can handle the insurgents, the country would fall to these scum. The great strides we have made in spreading democracy would be erased like footprints in the desert sand.
Don't you think the President would love to be popular? However, he has access to information the average citizen can't even begin to fathom. There is a lot of secrecy in international relations and Bush has very good reasons for making sure that Iraq becomes a successful and stable democracy. First of all, the desire for freedom will spread, and the more open a society is, the less likely that the intolerant, backwards, Sharia-law brand of Islam can survive. That's the way to solve the Islamic problem. Education and freedom. Remember, that once the countries in Eastern Europe saw how the West really lived, there was no stopping their desire to be free like them.
Remember this: a President must be a statesman, not some slimy politician who bends to each fleeting whim. If Ronald Reagan had listened to all the nay-sayers and critics, the Soviet Union would be alive and kicking (our @ss) today.

Since you fail to state where you got your number I will have to do some research, last I knew the number was much higher. I think that you are stating the number for those that think Bush's strategy is working. The majority of Americans ( I won't state the % as I have not looked at numbers since the Petraeus report) believe we should leave Iraq with some form of stability before we completely pull out. Although we don't want to see our soldiers die we also don't want to see the genocide that wil happen if we pull out like most of the democrats say we should. As far as listening or not since when did the American people know what is best for our country militarily or as far as our future safety is concerned?

I think you are reading the data wrong. Only 12% believe Bush's policy in Iraq is working. The majority of Americans don't want out of Iraq. They want a secure conclusion. Bush isn't capable of that.

There are enough numbers to make your head spin. Who do they ask? Where do they poll? They sound all well and good but not like Newton's Law you realize. They ultimately can be adjusted, altered and persuaded. Meant to be a gage of the way people are thinking it seems we have lost sight of reality here. WHO'S thinking? I am confused, are you so sure? I heard an ABC News report 60% of Iraqui's want US to stay. That report was given during a Bob Woodruff thing. Whose bias control's the numbers? Trouble is you may never know.
Just more numbers. Take a look. There are lots of them. Thank you.

Pulling out now would only prove his blunder of going in, in the first place and would even diminish his pages in the history books. No, he has made such a mess of everything (not just Iraq), that he has no alternative but to leave all the mess for the next president to straighten out, just like his daddy did.

Because it's totally obvious that the president doesn't give a hoot about what the American people think. He is passed the corruption phase. And those 12% of Americans who support the war are brainwashed. Plain and simple!!

Well then, if the other 88% are solidly on their side, why won't the Congressional Dems and presidential candidates do something? Why are the Dems refusing to listen?
All I hear is tap dancing from them. They're your representatives. Why are they refusing to listen to you? Turn up the heat on them.

When you listen you have to use your brain, their is cell for each thing you can do. Bush's brain has no cells they are suppose to be white on his MRI the brain cells are all black. His cells either all died one at a time or he was born with no live brain cells. That means he can't listen, I don't know about the rest of the Republican Party but it looks like a quite a few of theirs have turned black also. SOOOooo

I think its roughly 30% that still want him there but he needs to worry about the oil he has not drilled out yet before he cares what the 70-88% care about.
