I am having a problem with my Toshiba satellite notebook. I don’t know if I have a virus or just hit something by accident. When I try to delete or change a program, or restore to an earlier point I get the following error message. “this operation has been canceled due to restrictions on this computer” Anybody have any ideas?

I actually had this happen to me before. Try restarting in Safe Mode and try doing a System Restore there. That should might hopefully take care of it.

Sounds like some kind of administrative rights are keeping you from performing the actions.

Check in the Control Panel > User settings > look at your account and make sure you are the administrator and/or have administrative rghts.

Since each laptop company has their own way of doing things .. giving toshiba a call would be an option to rule out virus or accidental toggle setting.

Certainly you could check that your antivirus software is still running, up to date, properly configured, etc... and perform a complete scan and you can perform a webbased scan from most major antivirus vendpr websites if you suspect yours has been compromised.

Also make sure that your windows update is up to date with the latest security patches.

Rule those out first and come back with more detail if those are not the causes. Good luck!

curiously you're no longer on the time-honored administrative account. You have been on as an administrator confident sufficient or you need to no longer have set the regulations. yet to do what you pick to do you need to be logged in because of the fact the unique administrator IE: the guy who put in the working device. in case you recognize the installers password change to that account.
