1) 3n-4+4= 17+4(you do the same on both sides.
then 3n=21
n=21/3= 7.
You can controll yourself and see the answer 3 is correct.

2) m+14=8-2m

m+14-14+2m=8-2m+2m-14
3m=-6
m= -6/3= -2

3)5x+17=2x-10
3x=-27
x=-27/3= -9

When you shortcut you just move the unknown( x,m,n)
to the left side and change values from + to -.
You do the same with the numbers.

1. 3n - 4 = 17

First: combine "like" terms - add 4 to both sides (when you move a term to the opposite side, always use the opposite sign).

3n - 4+4 = 17+4
3n = 17+4
3n = 21

SEc: solve for "n" by isolating it on one side - divide both sides by 3.

3n/3 = 21/3
n = 21/3
n = 7

2. m+14 = 8-2m

Follow the same method - combine "like" terms, and solve for the "m" variable...

3n-4= 17
3n-4-17=0
now solve for n
------------------------
m+14=8-2m
m+14-8+2m 0
now do the operation of the same components and solve for m
-----------------------------------
5x+17=2x-10

the plus between5x and 17 should be minus!
follow the same method of the previews two equations to see what I'm talking about.

Hop[e this helps.

bypass multiply (x+3) and (x-4). that would choose to grant you (x-a million)*(x-4) = (x+2)(x+3). escalate it, that is: x^2-5x+4=x^2+5x+6. From there cancel out the x^2, leaving -5x+4=5x+6. combine the X in one section, -10x=2. Divide -10. subsequently, x=-0.2 (that is -a million/5). Plug the respond in to examine.
