I think that if I were to drive my car into a lake I would do that for one reason and one reason only........AND I would not need an excuse then :)

How about the truth? I would likely not do it on your purpose so why give an excuse? I would explain that I lost control, someone cut me off, or whatever else that happens that is the truth.

I am not sure. What did Teddy Kennedy use when he drove in Chappaquiddick and killed Mary Jo Kopechne? "It was dark and I took a wrong turn". Yeah that was it. It worked for him so maybe it might work for me. Probably not since my name is not Kennedy but since it worked for someone I might try it.
