Guardrailjim is correct the starter is on the left side of the engine just in back of the shift lever. As I remember according to the manual changing it is a big job (I think they actually recommended removing the engine). This is because the starter motor has a sprocket and chain on the end of its shaft, when you pull the starter motor out do it slowly and carefully or I believe it is possible that the sprocket and chain can fall into the motor, then, you will definately have to pull the engine and disassemble it. I have changed two in the past, but, its been a long time. I believe I had to remove the shift lever and I think I undid the left side exhaust pipe to gain as much access as possible. Good luck.
