area of frame= (total area of the sq print and frame)- area of sq print
total area of the sq print and frame= (9 .25)^2
=85.5625 sq inches
area of sq print = 8^2
64 sq inches

so area of frame= 85.5625-64
=21.5625 sq inches

length of the side of the print square = 8 in
widh of the wood = 1 1/4 = 5/4 in
length of the side of the wooden frame = 8+ 2(5/4)
= 8 + 5/2
= 21/2 in
area of wooden frame = (21/2)^2 - 8^2
441/4 - 64
(441 - 256)/4
= 185/4 sq in
= 46 1/4 sq.in

Area of the frame (wood)=total area-area of print
total area(side=8+1.25+1.25=10.5)
=10.5 x 10.5 - 8 x 8=110.25 -64=46.25 sq in ans
