The plug in repellers were in an older issue of consumer reports...long story short, they don't work...save your money. If you can afford a professional, have them spray your home for the roach problem. They'll have chemicals you can't buy over the counter. For the mice, the only thing the professionals will do is lay out rat bait. If you're concerned about the children in the home and poison, get the sticky mouse pads and lay them against the walls...mice can't really see well so they depend on the walls as their guide. We have caught many mice with the sticky pads and they're harmless to people. Now we have a cat so the problem is solved. Good Luck!

. That is one of the worse horror stories I've ever heard. It is a serious situation that no one should have to live in. Mice and roaches carry all types of diseases (ever heard of the Plague?) The landlord is responsible to at least try to correct the problem. In the meantime try Deacon rat bait. They are little trays of pellets that the rats eat and then die.The good thing is that they don't smell because the poison makes them dry up. Just use with caution if you have small children in the house.

Roach Proof is a great product. A cat from the animal shelter, be sure it is not declawed and no one is allergic to it.One good UN-Fixed Tomcat can decimate a mouse population in six weeks and then get him fixed.
Also check with the health department about the landlords responsibility in this matter it varies by state and county or city.In some places they get away with slum lording too easily. If they say you cannot have a cat because of a no pet policy ask them to come get their family members out of your apartment. Then move and accidently leave a 25 pound bag of dry cat food under the sink with a open hole in it.

If u are renting your land lord is repsondible for providing decent house ie. no bugs or mice.
If you clean your place it won't help - these creeps run in the attics walls and floors so u are not the only one.

Most like on tenant is very dirty to feed that many creepy things.

Find a city's official to call for stuff like that and report unsanitary conditions in a rental if landlord does not fix it. U are exposed to some many health hazards due to the bugs and mice that it is not safe to live there.

That is just gross - how can u even sleep at nite?

If you can't get the landlord to fix this problem, then you must tackle it fo now on your own.Look for tiny spaces where the mice are getting in,Remember mice don't have many bones,so they can squeeze through tiny holes,Get some mouse traps and set them, inside and out,Then get some "Ortho Fire Ant "killer. It is in powder form and made to go on fire ant beds, but it will kill every roach that comes near it or walks threw it.BE CAREFUL WHEN USING THIS STUFF>Keep it away from pets and your water supply, and when you open it,keep it away from your face.It smells really bad,but it will be worth it in the long run.Put it behind the stove ,under sinks,Behind refrigerator,etc...good luck.

This must be awful for you!! You mentioned that you live in an apartment, does that mean that your mother rents the place? If so, then you must have a landlord. Where I live, here in Florida--this is a clear health code violation and your landlord should be the one taking care of it. Since you have a computer, perhaps you could access your Health Department website and discover how you can report this if your landlord refused to deal with it.

When this sort of thing happened at our condos, we had to get a professional exterminator.

I hope this can help in some way.

These products rarely work at a range effective for what we need. You either need to get more of them and put them everywhere, call an exterminator, or get a cat. If you are on a budget a cat may be the way to go.

Sounds like you need a professional exterminator. Here in Southeast NM, we had an exterminator spray everywhere and it cost $168. But it was well worth the price

sounds like you need to call an exterminator.. Have them come out and spray the house.. inside and around it.. so t hat you are treating the area.. unless you put out actual poison you are not going to get rid of them.. good luck.
