They're funny, little guys, but make sure he does not have mites that are irritating him. He may be a little dehydrated too. Do you have a moist hide for him?

Play it safe, and clean the tank with a 10% bleach solution (1 part bleach diluted in 9 of water). Clean all his furniture as well. Give him a warm soak. If it is a reason for concern, I'd call a vet for a full check up. It can't hurt, and you may want to bring along a poopi for a fecal test.

He may have a piece of shed skin stuck to his eye, or got something in his eye. Do you use sand or other loose substrate? Hopefully not! Try a warm water soak and gently drip some water on his head to wash his face and rinse his eye. If he continues to do this, you might want an experienced reptile vet to take a look and make sure there is no damage or infection.

Mine does that too! I thought it was weird at first and I was kinda worried but he seems just fine! I think maybe it means they are bored or tired or something. Mine always does it when he is basking...I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Also, I have 2 beardies in the tank so I dont think a getting him a friend will make him stop closing his eye...if that were true mine wouldn't do it...

I don't think it's anything to be worried about. My beardie closes her eyes when basking, it's a sign that the bearded dragon is comfortable and relaxed.

that is cute, it's just tired, put live crickets in there, and it could be bored, if it doesn't have a friend, get it one =)
