My son and I are struggling and his father who lives in California sends child support finally after 9 years of denying my child. My son is 14 now and did not meet his grandfather and he recently died. Does my son's fathers inheritance trickle down to my son? I'd like to set up a college fund for him.

No, only if the grandfather put it in his will. More than likely it just went to the son (the child's father) and when he dies you may have a claim.

If no will, it goes to the next of kin and members of the immediate family. Example: Grandpa dies and no Grandma involved. Belongings go to his children. No trickle down effect. A will would have named heirs.

Did the grandfather left a will? if so, whatever is in there is the law.

If there was no will, then you could take it to court and demand your son's share.
