I think both places he refers to as the holy lands are in Saudi Arabia. He perceives that the Americans and Israelis have launched an attack on Muslims worldwide. I would recommend that in your assignment that you not blame Osama Bin Laden for the terrorist attacks because it has not been proven that he was the perpetrator. That could become an issue in academic work.

I also agree that the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the Capital (not hit but targeted) was attacked to symbolically show his disdain for our global economic system (World Trade Center), our military (Pentagon), and our system of government (Capitol). The plane itself could not have blown up the tower unless it had a bomb inside, and it probably did. But look at the sides of the buildings on how they explode in a pattern, you see smoke in those patterns coming out at the exact times. There were 3, I quote again, 3 loud explosions before the towers fell. On each tower.

That message is to stop meddling in the affairs of the Middle-East and to stop taking the side of Israel for everything.
