I managed to find 4 balls of Bengali by Queensland Collection on sale for $3.50 per ball. There are 80m or 88 yards per ball, so I have a total of 352 yards.

What can I knit with this fabulous yarn so that these balls do not become a permanent fixture in my yarn stash?

You need to pay attention since it's a novelty yarn with several different textures. It's easy for the needle to get caught. What I do when I may not have enough to finish a project, is to alternate a similar yarn as trim, such as the cuffs and neckline of a sweater, or the brim of a hat.

I once used diagonal stripes of one yarn, alternating with another contrasting one (fuzzy vs smooth) to create a nice table runner for holidays.

Go and cruise around the knitting book section of your local library and see what takes your fancy. The patterns should say how much yarn you need. You never know what you'll find in your local library!

I love Moebius scarves, designed by Cat Bhordi. The book is called Treasury of Magical Knitting. Once you get started making them, you'll be hooked. Or, how about a shrug? I assume you are going to make something for yourself that you can love, right?

4 balls is probably enough for a child's sweater, upto about age 5 or 6, just as a rough guess. hope that gives a rough idea of size for you
