I am asking those two questions but ask you to read this from the English "Times on line" before you answer them:
" The police case against the McCanns includes traces of Madeleine’s body fluids and hair allegedly found in their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz and in a car that was rented by the couple 25 days after her disappearance. Reports have suggested that the finding of Madeleine’s DNA in the boot proves that her corpse had been in there. Officers also believe that there are inconsistencies in statements made by the couple and a group of friends whom they were with on the night she disappeared." AND...
" Portuguese police are said to believe that they will never find Madeleine’s body, making it difficult to secure a conviction. Investigators think that her body was most probably dumped in a bag weighed down with stones and thrown off a British-owned yacht on the high seas, according to reports in the Diário de NotÍcias newspaper. Mike, there was enough evidence to question and the PJ-GNR want to charge the parents.
Let's not forget that this is not a war between Portugal and England for God's sake. We are searching the truth and whoever is guilty. BTW the police gather evidence and charge the accused. The criminal court finds them guilty or innocent not the police.
Finally, we don't always need a body to find someone guilty of murder, do we ?
Lastly, if there is enough circumstancial evidence isn't that in itself enough to convict ? Circumstancial evidence by the drop is not enough but by the tonne as in this case... well.

ADDENDUM -- I am a bit confused. Would I go and hire 25 days after my 4 year old disappeared ? Why ? To go visit the Pope in Rome ? A bit too far for a car ride. They however did hire a car and body fluids and a clump of Madeleine's hair was found under the boot carpet in the spare tyre well. What else should there be ?? I forgot, the entire Police in Portugal are trying to frame the McCanns. LOL

ADDENDUM 2
jampetpaul
Nice one, jampetpaul. I have had several 4 yr olds. They grew up healthy, thank God.
The Police found a CLUMP of Maddie's hair. Not mere several hairs but a clump of hair the Portuguese police say came off from the same are of the head. That is only consistent with hair coming off a (poor baby Madeleine) with a decomposing body. Unless of course the poor darling was becoming bold at the time -- very, very unlikely. If the body was kept in the boot of the car for a day only, the inside temp of the car would be in excess of 55 deg Cent. I was in Portugal during that time. It was 36 in the shade in an open space.
"...maybe she climbed in the boot for a laugh " -- Well, if you saw her do that, Paul, you have the key to the puzzle LOL

If the evidences are strong enough, it's not essential to find a body to get a conviction.

So that's that for you - open and closed case. Start checking back how many things have been said in the newspapers and then contradicted soon after. Talk about the right hand not knowing what the left one is doing? Okay I'm not pro or anti just waiting but ask yourself this if the Portuguese Police were as sure as yourself the McCanns wouldn't be suspects but already locked up awaiting trial.

To convict anyone the police need hard evidence. Nobody can be taken to court on speculation or circumstantial evidence. You must have facts and so far in this case they are none. Not a single piece of evidence, no witness, no body, nothing. I rest my case

No the case most definitely must NOT be closed until they find Madelaine dead or alive.
As for the McCanns being made formal suspects that is all they are at the moment. The rest is speculation and who knows what's the truth in the papers and what's not the truth. We can all keep speculating but it is not finding Madelaine any quicker is it.
Hold on to the words Allegedly
suggested
I do not believe they did it and I believe they deserve a fair trial. The supposed DNA is not a direct match and is only 80% likely to be hers.
I maintain my view "Innocent until P R O V E N guilty!
How would you want to be accused of murdering your child without a fair trial?
As for the showing grief bit (or lack of) I believe they just don't feel comfortable doing so. As doctors they are used to having to hold in all sorts of emotions. However take a look at Kate she looks ill, has lost weight and looks devastated.

In my honest opinion, I am not at all surprised that they are suspects, don't they know that they are allowed to show their sadness, I haven't seen any of them shed one solitary tear for that beautiful little girl. Yesterday on the sky news channel it showed a devastated (yeah right) Gerry and Katy being treated like celebrities whilst handing out the posters that we as members of the public have to pay 10p for , in order to help them find Maddy. They certainly didn't look devastated to me, I think they are guilty until proven innocent in their case, and I don't think they will be proven innocent.

I feel like hitting you!!!
INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!
read this today; makes sense to me
None of us is a detective working on the case, none of us has anything to go on to form our opinions, other than personal intuition and gossip. Right now, this husband and wife can't speak for themselves.
They have to live out their lives and cope with their grief under an incredibly intimidating public spotlight.
The Portuguese authorities make great play of their secrecy laws, yet day after day more details of what they are investigating amazingly appear in the newspapers as if by magic.
Given all the speculation and innuendo, I'm not sure what the McCanns have got to lose by not having their say - seeing as everyone else is having theirs.
But, finally, the main thing I think is: Let's not give up looking and praying for Madeleine.

'hmm' do you know the meaning of the word 'allegedly'.
what proof is there? the fact that maddies dna MAY have been in the boot, could mean that there was an article of clothing, or a hairbrush of hers etc etc in the boot of the car. how does it make it her 'corpse'- maybe she climbed in the boot for a laugh- do you have a 4 year old?
Do we hold witch hunts now on people for using the boot of their rental car!?
