I don't think there is any harm in it as long as you use proper methods, you treat the animal well, and you are not doing it for illicit purposes. Many animals like to please their owners and many owners treat their animals as part of the family. However, I have often said that I do not have pets because I don't believe in imprisoning and torturing (by setting their feeding and drinking times and keeping them in the house all day, etc) animals.
