Why don't the NY Times or the LA Times newspapers expand and make solar power possible ?

Why doesn't moveon.org expand and make soloe power possible ?

What does an oil company know about solar power ?

And by the way, the oil companies do not produce energy.

They find oil, drill for oil, process and refine oil into other forms, and then sell it to those who want to buy it.

They are in the OIL business, that's why. If they were in the solar power business you'd criticize them for that too.

Oil companies are not lazy. If you think that, get your aZZ out on a drilling rig and make those double D tongs bite, instead of running your pie hole. Oil companies take risks and invest a lot of money. I didn't see you or your ilk feeling sorry for anyone in the oil business when it goes through down periods like in the 80's and 90's.

Oil companies employ a lot of people, so when you want to destroy them think about who you're hurting. The roughneck from the New Orleans area who needs his job, or the secretary from Houston who needs her job.

Maybe we should destroy your livelihood because we don't approve of your industry..or is collecting food stamps considered an industry nowadays?

solar power is nowhere as efficient as what some people think. it's not a matter of buying cells, putting them on your roof and away you go. a lot of municipalities have ordinances in place that mandate you tie into the "grid" (that's the main electrical system provided to everyone). you would need "return" power lines to feed your extra power back to the grid, which they buy at a fraction of what they sell it for. you would need batteries to store power for days when power isn't produced (if that's the system you desire). but the cost of the cells versus the power they actually produce is nowhere near practical for most middle class people. also, the government make A LOT more money in taxes from oil and it's derivatives than the oil companies make in profits. sounds untrue? look it up yourself. when the oil companies 6% profit margin exceeded what the gov. makes in taxes, congress went after them with that whole "wind-fall profits" BS story.

It is not yet economically feasible. The oil companies could be the providers of new energy sources when the time is right.

Biofuels are available, but the cost is too high in most areas to use.

It is to monopolize the industry like mentioned, it is very easy to move on to another source and we had electric cars 80+ years ago but those went extinct. The technology is there, just the people with the money won't let it out.

Solar power is extremely inefficient.

Takes more energy to build a solar power plant than it can produce in years.

Places like deserts reflect solar radiation back into space and help cool the earth. Building solar panels traps that heat and add to global warming

Some companies invest in solar power as a marketing scheeme. They can claim to be "looking to help the earth" and appease luny libs

They can't monopolize the sun like they do the oil so some day someone else would be able to cut into their profits. Pretty basic.

If they could find a way to charge for sunshine they will.
Till then it would cost them money and they don't spend it on anything but raises and perks for the upper management azzkissers.
