Some time before the civil war there was a law passed that said slavery was still legal but slaves could no longer be brought in from other countries. Does anyone know what that law was called?

I think the law was passed some time around 1807-1808

"Anti-Slave Trade Bill"
ALSO KNOWN AS:
"An act to prohibit the importation of slaves into any port or place within the jurisdiction of the United States"

(Passed March 2, 1807)

This ban was to go into effect in 1808, since that was the first year the Constitution ALLOWED Congress to place any restrictions on the slave trade.
