It comes in an indirect way. My son went to Japan right before his birthday. The hotel he is staying at has people that have pretty much taken over taking care of him. They help him grocery shop, they make food for him, they are helping him do what it takes to get a job to stay there and they gave him a party for his birthday. Those acts of kindness touch my heart. To know my child is okay and others are looking out for him takes a lot of worry off my mind. I still miss him, but at least I know he is going to be okay.

A few weeks ago at work, we were overstaffed and they were going to send one person home. It was a weekend and a coworker and I both volunteered to go home because we both had stuff to do at home. Anyway, it was decided that I would be going home, so I did all my work that I needed to finish, but as I started thinking about it, I decided the other person should go home. Her husband works out of town and is only home on weekends and her sister was really sick in the hospital, so I told my coworker that I would stay so she could go. The next day she brought in a gift bag for me that had a really nice candle and some candy in it, which was a thank you gift for me for staying the day before so she could leave. I thought that it was so sweet of her to do that.
