First: solve for "y" by isolating it on one side - divide both sides by 4.8 (when you move a term to the opposite side, always use the opposite sign).

(4.8y)/4.8 > (10.56)/4.8

Sec: cross cancel the same terms & combine the rest.

y > (10.56)/4.8
y > 2.2

Divide both sides by 4.8

*But* pay attention.

If you have to solve -2y > 10, then, if you divide by -2 the inequality change:

y < -10/2
y < -5

Observe this

2 < 3
But -2 is not less than -3

So, when you mutliply or divide an inequality by a negative number, the sign changes.
