it is not sadness. Sucide is from a feeling of having no way out. If you are depressed (which can be caused from a chemical imbalance, excess stress, homrones, abusive situations)... when a person feels overwhelmed and that there is no way out. No way to be happy or feel rational and sane and like a 'human' again. when they are deserpate for a way out, for the abuse to stop, desperate to end the sadness that hurts so bad you feel sore all over.. when you want it to just go away.

Hi,

This is a sad question and needs a straight answer. Its the easiest way out to a coward.

One who cannot face up to the struggles of life, or feels a no good soul, a noboby, and gets the idea that " I'm nobody's child , no body wants me in this world any more" try to get hold of the CD on Hawkes Eye and listen to the words and tune.

Its so touching, and rmember not everyone is as lucky as you, being able to discuss this topic, as the feeling of ending ones life, just comes on , all of a sudden, its does not need planning or any thing all out.

Its a spark, out of the darkness of ones soul, the lost and dispaired person, the only solution that jumps out of the mind all of a sudden, and on the spot. Its not a simple idea or a problem that can be out on the table and thrashed out, no, it happens all of a sudden, any time, any where and to any body.

One has to be very strong in faith, religion helps a great deal, the very fear that one will never enter 'heaven' if they take their life, is more than enough to prevent a person , brought up on the religious factors of every day life. One will enter "Hell" if dead by suicide, this can help to stop one thinking about it.

But , what ever said and done, it is the will of God, and if it is God's will that you should leave this world by this method, well there is nothing any one can do.Prayers and talking to any one who is a good listening can help a great deal.

Hope you will be able to help such cases if you come across a suicidal situation.

God Bless,
Barbara Ali,

I think I can answer this question, but i'm not sure I will express my thoughts as clearly as I'm hoping.

suicide is a deeply personal choice created by the one who is killing themselves from friends, family and the voice in their head that tells them life is worth living not ending.

while true it is selfish, most everything we do is selfish so I'm not going to discuss that at length.

I think there are a few major ideas that fall in place on suicide, the first is escape from the life they are sufferning through. The hope is either to be in a state of oblivian or to be weighed on their merits as a human and hopefully judged good enough to enter heaven.

another major group is inablity to control themselves while in a state of dispare. We have to breath if we are to live, but no one calls that an addiction. Yet for those addicted to drugs, the hell they put themselves into, the loss of control of their lives and such, it would be a way to regain control, and even end the suffering, a double buck for the action taken.

and I think there are those that think that killing themselves will buy sympathy for them that they did not have in life, and the action justifys the act. I'm also of the opinion that they do not know how short the memory of the living is, and how uncaring most people are.

Suicide is a complex series of decisions and choices that are all bad, all destructive. Combatting suicide has to be done on a very personal, in your face, in your heart, in your life type counselling without any assurance of a good outcome.

suicide and murder go hand in hand, and once working with a truly suicidal person must remember that.

I don't know if anyone has the answer or knows exactly what is in the minds and hearts of those that commit suicide.
I can tell you that it is one of the most selfish acts, as you leave behind extremely hurt, confused loved ones.
Your problems end for you...but live on with friends and family whether that is to assume blame or feeling that they could have done something to prevent it.
I have cut down, picked up, covered up with tarps and then had to hold or inform more family members, that I care to remember. I am left with nothing but deep sadness for the families.
Unfortunately, I have found that a great deal of these acts are committed in a location where family are meant to find them.

I think it is because they find life intolerable, they see no hope for it changing, they cannot see any way of changing it or they cannot accept any of the ways people have given to get out of it. Sometimes they want to show people what life would be like without them. It is a final desperation and escape. Some people catasophize their situation so much that they believe it is truly calamitous and that people would be better off without them. Of course, none of that is true. The most horrific thing anyone would do would be to restart the Holocaust or something like that (Is Idi Amin still alive?). It is difficult to see that anything anyone would do would be that horrific. Most other things are things that we live through, learn from, and look back on. Suicide is a punishment on the living. Anyone who has experienced a suicide in their family wonders what was going on in the person's mind to think they could do anything for which they would not be forgiven. Mothers continue to love sons and daughters that murder even people in their own families. Anyone thinking of suicide should consider that there are still people who love them and would be willing to listen and help them through anything they were going through, even if they had to take a time out from life. No one should ever think the world would be better off without them or that whatever they had done would soon be forgotten and they would have anew opportunity to create a better memory.

Its when people feel its the only answer, that their all alone and no will help them. Some don't know how to reach out. Some other people have been through to much trauma, experience triggers which set off the traumatic memories and they actually relive it. While other people try to self-medicate themselves with drugs and alcohol to numb and forget about it, this can create a down spiral. It could be from sadness, betrayal, anger from being robbed or raped i could go on and on. A person suffering from depression. If anyone ever says "I'm going to kill myself, or I want to kill myself, or kill someone else". They need mental health help. This is the fist sign that they want to hurt themselves or someone else. Don't take it lightly, its a cry for help, suggest counseling, it could save a life, and help this person sort out what their going through and get past the situation.

It has to do with the person and how they see themself. Some kill themself because they dont think they are good enough and think them living is a wast of life. Some do it because to get accoss to some people like the school shoutings. Those kids think if I kill some kids that didnt know me or judged me and i kill myself. Maybe they will know who I was know and remember me. Some people are just sick, they have a problem of hurting themselves, Some think if your in so much pain and no one can fix it or take it away, Over doing it on drugs or just cutting your rist. Will make the pain go away and you wont have to feel it again.

Its sad people think that they are not important or that no one loves them. That they would take their own life to make a point. Them thinking " no one showed me love or the time of day. Know that I am gone maybe they will start loving me now and miss me know that Im gone.

People ATTEMPT to commit suicide for many different reasons. There is a 'clinical diagnosis' called 'depression' that accounts for many of those attempts ... but 'depression' is not the ONLY reason people try to kill themselves. I have tried (and I'm a PSYCHOLOGIST!) and it was when I couldn't 'communicate well' with others for some reason, or when I was on a Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor that took my 'creative ability' away from me. It's not a 'sadness' that causes people to want to kill themselves ... 'sadness' is actually EASY to 'live with' ... it is when a person feels 'useless' and 'in the way' ... and thinks that no one in the world will even 'notice' that the 'suicide' is gone ... which is WRONG, of course ... TOTALLY WRONG. 'Tomorrow' is NOTHING BUT SURPRISE ... and we ALL NEED TO LIVE OUR FULL LIVES ...
It's 'crazy' to consider killing yourself ... and even the Catholics now bury suicides in 'consecrated ground' because they know that you must be 'crazy' to do it, and if you are 'crazy' you aren't 'sane enough' to know it's a 'sin' ...
DO NOT KILL YOURSELF. DO NOT PUT DOWN a 'potential suicide' ... help them get help ... PLEASE.

A bad childhood or a dear friend was lost or a family member. My moms boyfriend comitted suicide but we still have no clue why he did it. It's mentalaty and they either crave to be with someone in the afterlife or want to be wtih god. It's just something that happened in the past. For some reason or another people do it because they are deeply hurt somewhere and need to be with that person. Have you noticed that when someone's mother, father, ect. dies they die along very soon after wards. They crave to be with that person. Or maybe they realize the bad things that they did and then kill themselves. It's in their minds.

my father committed suicide in 1995 he was a bad alcoholic he would get off of work and go straight to the bar. the main problem with that is he was an angry drunk he would come home and break things hit my mom and my mom feared for her kids me and my 2 brothers so she called the cops he got arrested and my mom put a restraining order on him he lived with my aunt (his sister) about 20 miles away in another town. my uncle is a recovered alcoholic so he helped my dad through his problem and made him go to AA meetings he was doing good until one day we found him dead in his truck with a .45 revolver in his hand. in fact that had happened 12 years ago on the 15th (yesterday) we think he got depressed because he couldnt see his kids and he thought his wife hated him (my mom loved him still she just wanted to help him and protect us at the same time and that was the only reasonable way) and he still wanted his alcohol so he went the only path he thought was the way out... suicide so yes you are right the major thing that causes it in the end is depression and sadness.
