I used to be in favor of legalizing prostitution. Most of the problems associated with it stem from it's being illegal. And the attempts to control it always target the prostitutes and sometimes the customers--but never the pimps who commit most of the cirmes, including slavery.

What consenting adults do, even if money changes hands, is none of my business, and certainly not the government's business--as long as nobody gets killed or otherwise does something that needs addressing. Attempts to legislate morality always cause worse problems and never solve any.

After Bill Clinton's Welfare Reform, I backed away from the position of wanting prostitution legalized, because of the danger that states would cut their Welfare rolls by forcing women into prostitution. But those who freely wish to be sex workers should be allowed to in a tax, regulated and unionized industry.

I'm strongly against it. Why? for the reason that sex should be enjoyed by people who truly and deeply love each other. Selling your body is selling your soul.

As long as they are doing it as a vocation & not a hobby, I'm fine with it. :-)
