I woke up this morning feeling ok. I ate two pieces of toast and still felt fine. I then took my prenatal and calcium pills (milk makes me sick) and now I feel like throwing up. I have been sick since week 5 with throwing up mainly in the morning. Could the prenatal pills be the cause? Can I take other vitamins like the Flinstones which will work the same as the prenatal pills? Should I start taking the pills before I go to bed?

Well, I have been taking the vitamins after I eat breakfast. I have an appointment this Wednesday, so I'll see what my OB says. Do you have to take the prentals throughout the whole pregnancy? I forgot if I did the same with my son.

Some women are sick all through their pregnancies. Or it may still taper off in a week or two. I wouldn't recommend taking the vitamins right before you go to bed - are you always taking them after food? Cuz that helps.
Just don't stop taking the prenatal ones - they are much higher in the vitamins you and the baby need right now. Talk to your doctor and see what s/he recommends...Good Luck and Best Wishes!

I was still feeling that way at 13 weeks too, though it had started to lessen by then. So, I don't think the prenatals are the problem - I think that the hormones are the "problem"... unless you feel sick right after taking your vitamins every single day. Before switching to Flintstones, I would try to start taking the prenatals at night (that's what I did) and if you start getting sick at night instead of in the morning, you will know it's probably from the vitamins. But, consult a doctor before changing the kind of vitamins completely. Not every doctor will say that Flintstones are just as good.

Switch tomorrow to taking them at night with your snack. If that still doesn't work you should be able to take the Flinstone vitamins. Since you are out of the first trimester now you don't really need the prenatals as much, until you start breastfeeding. My friend became VERY ill taking her prenatals so her doctor told her taking the Flintstones were fine.

prenatals are best. flinstones vitamins dont have the exact same thing as prenatals. Personally i take the life brand prenatals ( with selenium) Its really good, doesnt cause me a bit of nausea, maybe you should try it. and usually its best to eat right after a meal.

My doctor told me that some women do get sick from thier prenatal vitamins, but that there isn't a good alternative and we just kind of have to suck it up. Do you have a perscription fro Zofram, that really helps with the morning sickness.

One your prenatal's could be to strong for you, tell your doctor about the reactions your having from them, and too make sure its your prenatals stop taking them for a day or two and see how u feel. This is how my doctor discovered mine where to strong. Second honey I'm 16wks and still getting sick!

Try taking your vitamins, etc. before bed. That helped me a lot. Also, your morning sickness may never go away... mine still comes and goes at 6 months.
