The same type as other people, but less gossipy and with more depth and breadth. They Talk about technology, politics, pop culture, they just compare, contrast and specialize it against a wider spectrum.
Most non-geeks don't consider events/culture more than 5 years old or information more thorough than what's found in People Magazine or the nightly news.
non geek: "This new PSP game is awesome."
geek : "This new PSP game is similar to the SCUM system games developed by Lucas Arts in the 1980's with a hint of late 90's survival horror stuff and references to the "Red Scare" paranoia of the 1950's."

Why do you call smart people "geeks?" I consider that to be labeling. My 14y/o granddaughter is very smart. She's been in three accelerated classes in school each year, for many years now. She's very musically inclined as well & has her head on straight & she's NO geek.

They talk on forever about video games, role playing games, how hot the imaginary women in these games are; they talk about movies with the word "Star" in the title. And for some reason they all like medievil stuff like swords & crap.

They unscrew the inscrutable, describe the whichness of what, solve the world's problems and generally have a good time together doing it. Usually finishing by retiring to the kitchen to whip up something gourmet and yummy.

I bet their best conversations are about how you and I miss concepts and ideas that they clearly and easily grasp. Laughing at how we struggle because we wasted too much energy at school on fitting in socially at the risk of flailing about academically.
