I know someone who works there and once someone donates he packs it up and turns around and sells it for profit. He doesn't know I know this. Is this right?

Of course it is against the law. It is stealing.

Once the goodwill place comes into possession of a donation, (be it either by going and collecting it, or from it being left on their premises), it then is the property of goodwill.

This is no different than if I were an employee at walmart and when the supply truck came in with new merchandise, I decided to take some of it and sell it on my own --- totally illegal.

The person should be reported, charged with theft, and terminated.

It is illegal, and he should be reported to the police. I, for one, want to know that the stuff I donate is going to help the poor people, not to profit some greedy low-life.

for all you people who think its so sad to steal from them because its for the needy maybe the person stealing is one of the needy and cant even pay for the cheap stuff they sell. think about that

Yes, that is illegal. Just because Goodwill doesn't pay for the item, they still "own" it. It is no different than if someone gave you a gift, and someone else stole it.

It isn't right. It is against the law. You don't have to do anything about it. Lots of people will tell you to turn him in, but it isn't worth it. Just let it go.

If he continues, he'll eventually get caught - without you getting involved.

It is both morally and legally wrong to steal. You should report these unscrupulous actions to his superiors as he is taking what givers intended for those in need. Thanks.
