Internal stimuli (auditory or visual hallucinations) are symptomatic of a mental illness that need treatment in order for it to go away if it goes away at all. Don't panic. The mind can become ill just as the body does, and both require the help of a medical professional. You'll need medication and/or counseling to help you develop and maintain coping mechanisms. Look into it right away for the sake of your mental health.

It's not just 'voices in the head'. Some people get different sensory effects - seeing things that aren't there, sensing smells that aren't there, feeling things on the skin, sensations of taste, etcetera. Don't worry too much, most people experience these things at times in their lives.
