Oopsa daises! There's nothing you can do about that im afraid, you'l have to get a new carpet, your insurance should cover that though, my mum did the same thing. Ive opted for wooden floors, so much easier!

no, you can repair your carpet, it is relatively simple, 1st find a place such as inside of your closet or????
2nd cut a piece of your carpet about 2 inches larger than the spot you need to cover,
3rd place the larger piece over the bad spot,,
4th feel the nap of the carpet and make sure you have the nap running the same on both pieces,
5th tack down the corners of the top piece and make sure it is stable,
6th use a sharp knife or preferable a razor knife, and cut thru both pieces at one time, use a straight edge or any thing to keep your lines straight,
7th pull your tacks out from the carpet you nailed down before
place the new piece in the spot you just cut out, check to make sure it fits good,
8th any builders supply will have carpet tape, get a roll and cut pieces so they fit uner the original carpet on all sides with at least one inch showing to the inside of the carpen so when you put the cut piece in it will have enough to hold the repair,
you can use a regular iron to heat the carpet tape you have put in the hole , heat one side at a time and press your piece into the hole, then do the sides the same way, brush with your hand and you can't even tell where it was damaged before,
This may sound complicated but once you get started, you will see it is really simple, hope this helps.

My nan had an iron mark in her carpet for 30 years. (Then she changed the carpet). I remember my friend trying to iron a transfer onto a nylon nightie, directly onto a new carpet when she was 13. Her dad had to give the carpet a haircut to get the nightie off!

If it is a long pile carpet you might try trimming the burnt bits off but I would think it would still be noticeable. The best thing would be to patch the carpet by replacing a patch of it firmly held from underneath with strong tape.

No nothing. I did this last year and we'd only had the new carpet 2 months. I did consider packing my bags before my old man got home from work but decided that was a bit drastic. So I changed round the furniture to hide the mark. He didn't like the new arrangement so when I was having a bath he changed it back and discovered the lovely iron shaped mark. And boy was I in trouble.

Anyway to cut along story short we claimed on the insurance and there was no problem. They are pretty good at things like that providing you haven't claimed for loads and loads before.

you can fix this if you have a spare piece of carpet , or take a piece from a place that will not show. ( example) under heavy furniture, in a closet. Cut round the burnt piece of carpet use a sharp trimming knife or a safety razor blade. Cut enough matching tufts to fill the hole , dab the hole and the ends of the tufts with a suitable latex adhesive, then insert the tufts into the hole. Leave to dry , then trim the tufts if necessary and brush in with the pile

Chap who fits carpets for us, said when trying to do a repair, always make the hole round - if you make it square the corners will catch and pull up. As long as you can match the carpet pattern with a bit from somewhere else you should have a repair that lasts.

if the scorch mark is dee p then no nothing u can do but you may find you have trouble claiming on insurance, as this doesnt constitute a fire as such as you would have to have flames for it to be a fire. i had the same prob and when the ins advisor made that statement i went mad and said that if i hadnt of had the smoke detectors, then the carpet would have caught alight and the whole house would have burnt down and my claim would have been much more. they paid out in the end

Sorry no. My step mother did here in my house when she was still living with me and there is nothing to be done. Someday I hope to replace the carpet.
