= 2 [ x ² - (1/2) x + (1/2) ]
= 2 [ ( x ² - (1/2) x + 1/16 ) - 1/16 + 1/2 ]
= 2 [ (x - 1/4) ² + 7/16 ]
= 2 (x - 1/4) ² + 7/8

Your square will be 2x^2-x+c, c is unknown. For this to be a square 2*(sqrt2)*sqrt(c) = -1 or, squaring both sides, 4c=1 and c=1/4. So, we have 2x^2-x+(1/4) +(3/4).
