Q 1.
Compound of copper and sulfur contains 88.39 of metal and 44.61 nonmetal. How many grams of Copper are in 5264kg of compund? How many grams of sulfur?

Q 2.
Dolomite is a carbonate of magnesium and calcium. Analysis shows that7.81 g of dolomite contain 1.70g of Ca.Calculate the mass percent of Ca in dolomite. On the basis of the mass percent of Ca, and neglecting all the other factors, which is the richer sourse of Ca, dolomite or fluorite?
*Fluorite, a mineral of Ca , is a compound of the metal with fluorine. Analysis shows that a 2.76g of fluorite contains 1.42g of Ca.

ANYTHING YOU KNOW MIGHT HELP so say it xD? Thanks

you dont say the unit of 88.39 g or kg .... 44.61 g or kg

if that is g

the compound of Cu and S but you know Cu is metal 88.39 g, S is non metal 44.61g

5264kg = 5264000 g of compound

Cu = 5264000 g *88.39g/( 88.39+44.61) = 3498383 g = 3.5x10^6 g Cu

S = 5264000*44.61g/(88.39+44.61) = 1765616 g = 1.8x10^6 g

1. You left something out of the assay data!
2. Mass pct= wt of Ca * 100/wt dolomite.
without going through a whole lot of math, if the dolomite is about 20% calcium and the florite is about 50% calcium, I think you can figure out the answer.
