ROBELINE, La. - This village's only convenience store decided to do something nice for its police officers: give them a free fountain drink or coffee at closing time. But somewhere along the way, investigators say, it got out of control. Now, all three of the village's officers are accused of stealing snacks.

"Over a period of time, it evolved into regular drinks and more," Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's investigator Travis Trammell said. "There's no telling how it got to this point, but the store started experiencing losses and they watch their videotapes and see all of this going on."

Surveillance tapes showed each officer going into the Shop-A-Lott at Lott Oil around closing time and filling plastic bags with dozens of bottled soft drinks, Trammell said. The officers also are reportedly seen eating an assortment of other snacks without paying.

Police Chief Gordon O'Con confirmed that the officers remain on active duty, but said he was advised not to commment about their arrests. There was no answer at the police department Friday when The Associated Press made repeated calls seeking comment from the officers.

This is clearly a case where three have taken advantage of the kindness of a business. A small business, mind you, in a small town. Shameful behaviour on their part.

Now, THAT was funny. It was not even a donut shoppe either. Oh, what is the world coming to when the police do not even have the decency to steal donuts anymore?lol/

**With all due respect to the poster below me. Oink Oink is just a joke. It should be taken no more seriously than if the asker told me that ARMY stood for Aren't Ready to be a Marine Yet or if I called him a jarhead. I am a veteran and so is the poster. Veterans that gave up a portion of their life to defend the freedom of all, including the law enforcement. Heck if I didn't get pregnant when I did, I would be overseas right now!

One or two police officers do not represent ALL police officers. They disgraced themselves and not the shield. Every soldier and veteran that I know of have respect to for the law enforcement officials and any other public service official.

Never once in the posters question did he pose a blanket statement. He simply posted the news story. If those police were stealing food and drinks then they are pigs, not because they wear the badge, but because they are theives!****

First and foremost, I cannot condone such action as people are people and some choose to wear the badge in dishonor. They should be caned in public for tarnishing the shield.

Oink, oink... pigs, pigs. lolerz!! Go to the local law enforcement agency and mock them off there, in person, instead of hiding behind your computer monitor in the comfort of your parent's home. gtfo

Because of some US soldiers had been charged with rape abroad, is it right to label them all as rapists or slander them in general? Sorry, I respect 'most' law enforcement personnel. I can sleep better at night, knowing they are out on the streets risking their lives for the benefit of my own. That goes for 'most' combat personnel too. Oh well, to each is to their own. I hope you dumb them down when they rescue you from some traumatic event or to even save your cretinous lives by trading theirs.

There are bad apples in every organization, learn to differentiate. It is the general population's problem that some of you can't be law abiding citizens. We, the tax payers, ultimately pay for your hooliganisms and lack of respect for laws. How about all of you move to some island where total lawlessness is absolute bliss, don't come crying back to the real world. That is, if you even manage to stay alive on the island. Oh, you can take those three snack-thieving wankers to the island with you too. lolz

Hilarious. How greedy. Oh, well, I guess there's a reason we call them "pigs."
