The year (2004) in question, not only was he in the Minors, he was out due to injury and phys. rehab. He was being prescribed medication under a doctors care. Steroids are commonly prescribed for treatment (my son was prescribed them a couple of weeks ago). 2004 was three years ago, at that time MLB had no ruling on steroid (or supplement) use.
Look at Rick. Is his head the size of a baby carriage (i.e.: Bonds)? His body is toned, not huge.
Last point; this came from a New York newspaper. Nuff said.

HGH (the drug he recieved) is prohibited in the minors, not just in the major leagues, so that's not an argument. They do allow its use by prescription, but you do have to actually report it and get a waiver, which Ankiel did not do.

Beyond that: HGH is not a recognized treatment for the Tommy John surgery that Ankiel had received that year.

Were your son's steroids prescribed illegally?

Who cares what newspaper released it, Ankiel admitted it.

He sure didn't play like that BEFORE the illegal drugs, hence the cheating. I personally wonder if he wasn't on something up until the story came out, he had to stop and that's why he's sucking again.

I don't know why everyone is surprised that the Cardinals fans are living in denial with Ankiel but bash Bonds. They did the same thing with McGwire. Their own coach condoned the use of steroids with Jose Canseco when he was with the As. Cheating is their mantra.

Why not read more on the subject before you come here and bash people?

He used HGH, NOT steroids. They are two completely different things.

I totally agree with you. And besides, that was the past. Does it matter? NO! There isn't anything we can do about it. That stuff is easily out of his system 3 years later!

Way to be a hypocrite. Hate Bonds, love Ankiel. You must be a Cardinals fan.

He acquired HGH via an illegal prescription. HGH is not meant to be used to aid athletes in a speedier recovery. He broke the law.
