In some ways - as long as I was a rich man! The clothes were great and people had impressive manners, but the main reason would be because people didn't fear consequences.
Nowadays we have to be so worried about the impact of our actions - the Victorians had no concept of that. They designed spectacular feats of engineering because they had the potential to be glorious without worrying about Global Warming and they conquered the world for the glory of Britain without bothering about racism or Imperial morality. It must have been great to have that sort of freedom - we can't conceive of it now.

People in Victorian times were much closer to the Church and nature. Most people were happy with their position in life and not as greedy as we are today. Amusements were less stressful and family orientated. It would have suited me to have lived then, and I would have liked to be a game keeper with a tied cottage. It probably would have been a job for life and how many of those do we have now. Also I would not be stressed by unrelenting stressful news stories, loud music and constant mobile phone calls and traffic. Give me a time machine - Please!!

No. I like modern life, air conditioning, electricity, refrigeration, automobiles, etc. I like wearing comfortable clothes, no girdles, no high top shoes. When we see movies or read about the Victorian age we see how the very wealthy lived, not the rest of us. I don't think it was so great.

Most people were poor and ill educated and so i think not, i would have loved to have met Charles Dickens though to gauge his opinions and thoughts of his books and their impact on the populace at large.
Just the thought of going to the workhouse or debtors prison, very common, makes me shudder, so i guess i am glad that i live in more modern times.
