by a cop, if you get a ticket, how much is this ticket worth, or is it just a ticket to get you to go fix it and no fines are attached to it. doesnt make sense levying a fine on someone who didnt know one of his headlights failed.

It depends on the officer and you, I had this happen to me once and the officer was nice and listened to me, I told him I had just replaced the very headlight he told me was out, I was shocked to see it was out again, I had the receipt for it, he told me to fix it and I told him I would head for Walmart for another bulb, I got the new bulb. I am A very skilled Tech person and the old bulb was defective. No ticket, just a warning..........

most of the time you will get an inspection ticket. The value of the ticket is nothing. You just need to get the problem fixed within 30 days

In the uk, if you get stopped for a defective Head or Tail light that has just occured, you shouldn't receive a ticket as such, however, you will receive a producer. That means you will have seven days to put right the defective light and show the proof at your local Police Station.

You see cops don't want to spend there time off

Fix-it-ticket.

Fix it, get it verified by an officer, or DMV and you're done.
No cost for the ticket if repair is done within the specified time.
