If you xray it, if it is real, it will not show up in the setting. If it's fake, it shows up as white. You could probably as an xray tech at the local hospital to xray it for you. I guarantee they xrayed theirs. I did.

Well diamond is the only material that can cut diamond, so why not try to cut the fake diamond with a knife..

Does it scratch glass?
I have a diamond tester.
You can take it to any Pawn shop & they have a tester or you can take it to a jewelry shop. Sometimes they are willing to check it out for you. Or if there is a Gem & Mineral Society in your city, you can talk to them. There is probably someone in their club who has a diamond tester.
Usually diamonds are set into quality gold or platinum; however, I have one that my late husband set into a ring for me in sterling, because it also has some inlaid malachite & coral. It was one of his original designs.

My understanding is that a real diamond must be able to scratch glass.

Bring it to a jewler. Or you can attempt to test it yourself. Nothing can scratch a real diamond but a real diamond can scratch anything else.

diamonds are the hardest rock ever. try using it to scratch glass or cement. because real diamonds can. fakes can't. a fake looks extremely perfect and the holographic spectrum of colors can be extremely bright. sometimes older diamonds emit like a black stain. i think its carbon.some of my diamonds have carbon stains.

well areal diamond could cut anything,
but also too, if u have already boaughten it, send it to get appraised,
or see id you could get an apraiser to come with you.
they know what they are talking aobut.

My physics teacher told me this, if you hold it up to your lips and it feels cold then it's real.
That's where the term "ice" came from.
