I have a lawn mower, 2 yrs. old that has some serious internal issues...It got hung up and now when it turns over it knocks really bad while running. I am looking to take the block out of an older 3.5 and bolt all the parts onto it from the new one and throw the newer, more damaged block away. Is this possible? Are the holes on the blocks for carbs and pipes etc...all the same for 3.5-5hp motors?? My dad has a bunch of old lawn mowers at his house that don't run. 3 of them are B&S Someone please fill me in..

Thank you.

The best way that I can think of to check the parts for compatibility would be to get the model/type numbers from the engines that you want to work on. They are stamped into the metal shroud near the front of the engine usually. Than go to outdoordistributors.com. Type in the model and find your engine. This will give you an exploded view of the engine and part numbers. If the part numbers match that will fit one to the other.
