Where I live, it is the law that you have to own a gun. In a city in Vermont, it is illegal to own a gun. That city in Vermont has a high crime rate. Where I live, we have one of the lowest crime rates in the country. In my opinion, I think it is great to be required to have a gun. Also, I love deer hunting and just shooting guns in general at the shooting range.

So, what is your opinion and why?

btw, this isn't my homework, I really want to know some other viewpoints.

By the way it is not illegal to own a gun, the Constitution guarantees us that right. It may be illegal to carry it on your person. It will be a cold day in hell, and they will have to pry my gun from my dead cold fingers before I give up my right to carry my gun.

Gun control = being able to hit your target

The Founding Fathers, when writing the US Constitution, recognized the need for people to be safe in their homes, and able to defend themselves. The "right to bear arms" is an important part of our Constitution, as well as being an important part of our history.
The old saying that "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns." is very true. The honest citizens register their guns, or obtain Firearm Owner's ID's, but the bad guys don't.
What good will "gun laws" do to those that don't obey the law?

The previous drained rhetoric that pertinent gun regulations are already in place and this is an enforcement situation would not ring incredibly authentic. i think of there must be greater controls on possessing a gun. all people is definitely entitled to very own a gun for self risk-free practices, yet for the intentional killing of living issues, jointly with pastime, to my strategies is smug and vicious inasmuch as we placed on species blinders. this is not any scientific or organic and organic secret that a deer, as an occasion, feels soreness. Why could easily all people reason soreness in yet another living ingredient, for the "exciting" of it? i be attentive to that's no longer a usual point of view, yet I definitely have yet to pay attention a sturdy reason killing for pastime is morally only. i be attentive to some distant relatives in Alabama that definitely do hunt deer for the venison, so i assume this is a valid justification. yet extremely, that's the exception, no longer the rule of thumb. If those varieties of firearms must be prohibited, it could a minimum of placed a small dent interior the proliferation of deadly weapons on the marketplace. As for possessing a handgun for risk-free practices or self-protection, the statistic irony is that those in-abode weapons usually finally end up getting used to settle a enjoyed ones dispute. there is not any sturdy answer to this question. If some human beings have been allowed to hold a hid weaon at Virginia Tech, the shooter would not have been as useful as he became into. The question then turns into, who's entitled to hold a hid weapon. My suited answer is that there could be one among those guy or woman who's qualified to stroll around armed. only no longer all people.

Guns are such a hot topic, and very debatable. In my opinion, guns are good for self protection, but harmful when used improperly such as killings. One one note, you cant pass a law saying you cant have them, because people will find ways to get them. On the other hand, you cant pass a law saying get one, because then things will get out of control. My view is that I wish guns were never invented, if we actually had to fight with our hands and swords, instead of being wimps, and taking it easy and shooting, the world would be so much better.

If you read the founders writings, they all agreed that a republic can only be healthy if its citizens are armed. Unless the government fears the people, the whole thing will eventually dissolve into tyranny
